NEW YEAR'S CONCERT AT DIABLERETS

Festival President's opening speech
Dear audience, dear friends, good evening,
A very warm welcome to this first concert.
of the 56th edition of the Festival Musique & Neige.
On behalf of the committee, I wish you all the best for 2025.
I'd like to thank you all for coming in such large numbers this evening. But the festival isn't just a concert on the first of the year. It also includes seven chamber music concerts at the Vers-l'Eglise temple, every Saturday from January 18.
I'd like to thank my fellow committee members, our artistic director Gilles Champoud, our volunteers, our advertisers and all our public and private supporters... Not forgetting the Association of Friends of the Festival.
Ticket sales do not come close to covering the artists' fees. The Friends Association, year in, year out, enables us to balance our books without a deficit... and to continue bravely towards our 60th anniversary.
You're already a member: congratulations and many thanks.
If you're not one yet, join us!
The festival's trademark is top quality at very reasonable ticket prices.
Sol Gabetta and Patricia Kopatchinskaja, both of whom have magnificent international careers, played here in their early days. Marina Viotti, too, before her victory in the 2022 music competition and her performance at the opening of the Olympic Games. A final example: last season, soprano Chelsea Zurflüh performed here. A few months later, she won the Geneva Grand Prix.
That says a lot about a small, high-quality festival!
Never been to a concert at Vers-l'Eglise? Give it a try. You'll enjoy great music and emotions in an idyllic setting. And afterwards, we'll treat you to mulled wine. I look forward to welcoming you.
But for now, settle back in your chair and make way for Miss Helvetia and her musicians.
Philippe Treyvaud, January 1, 2025
