Christel Sautaux

Biography

Christel Sautaux is the first accordionist to graduate with a Master’s degree in solo performance from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU). She teaches at the Conservatoire de Fribourg (COF) and the Conservatoire de Vevey (CMVR), and is the director of the École de musique de la Vallée de Joux (EMVJ).

As a concert performer and interpreter, whether on stage solo, in chamber music, or with a symphony orchestra, Christel Sautaux always seeks to connect with her audience to share her passion for music and her instrument.

Her musical journey, crowned with a Master’s degree in solo performance, began with exposure to music at a very young age. Christel Sautaux completed a comprehensive musical education, including a teaching diploma in accordion, a concert master's degree in accordion, and a certificate of piano studies. Simultaneously, she also completed studies in biotechnology engineering.

She is an accomplished musician and educator who has adopted the motto: "the pleasure of learning… the pleasure of teaching."

She is the recipient of numerous national and international competition awards and has been honored with the Pierre and Renée Glasson Fund Scholarship and the Friedl Wald Scholarship.

Christel Sautaux has participated in several premieres for soloist, orchestra, or choir. She is a valued accompanist in the choral world, the accordionist for the Opéra à Bretelles, and has several CDs to her name.

She is also regularly invited to perform in television and radio programs (RTS, RSR, Espace 2, Radio Fribourg, DRS, etc.).
